Wellington, North Island
Melissa Young has been sculpting since 1997, she works generally in bronze and produces delicate figurative pieces. She likes to experiment with new ideas and themes when sculpting, often these ideas evolve from conversations that she has had or scenes that she has observed. Her works are a social commentary on (her) life.
The naming of the works is also important to Melissa. She hopes it gives an insight into the ideas behind her pieces and expresses some of her personality and humour. She has work in private collections in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, USA, Canada, England and France.
Melissa lives and works in Island Bay, Wellington with her husband John and their young daughter.
